AEA Strategic Plan
AEA Revitalization (Programs & Membership)
a. Network with WNY Grantmaker's Association
1. Engage the WNY funder community in policy dialogues (as a resource) in the areas of:- Needs of the community
- Process and infrastructure for grantseeking/making
- Develop a feedback loop between funders and service providers
2. Co-host a program of mutual interest and benefit to the grantmaking and grantseeking community on an annual basis.
b. Recruit and retain agency CEOs as active members of the AEA
1. Develop and implement a strategy for promoting active participation in the AEA.
- Continue to define and refine the value-added services of the AEA
- Develop marketing materials and feedback mechanisms
- Develop and implement a welcome and orientation protocol
CEO Development
a. Speakers Series for CEOs
1. Develop and implement an annual schedule of speaker series in the areas of:
- Inspirational/Leadership
- Functional /Operational
- Community development, promotion
- Public Policy
2. Develop market and present mini-retreats, luncheons or dinner presentations by inspirational speakers, business leaders, sports figures, etc...
b. Mentoring for CEOs
1. Create a system to profile the needs of current CEO's for networking/mentoring.
2. Create a vehicle for new and current CEO's to partner with a mentor CEO based on experience, need or expertise.
Agency Development
a. Capacity building/ Exploitation of new and emerging technologies/Better fundraising
1. Develop and present seminars to CEOs or designated staff in the areas of:
- Information technology
- Fundraising and Development
- Accounting and business management
- Risk Management
- Other areas as identified
2. Research and develop resources for consultation and/or technical assistance in the above areas.
b. Support Groups by business function/Functional sharing opportunities
1. Develop and promote affinity groups by function
c. Develop resources for Board and CEO transition planning
- Explore/develop resources for Board instruction on transition planning
- Develop mechanisms to educate Boards on CEO roles/tasks
- Explore/develop resources for CEO retirement planning (getting a life)
Board Relations and Development
a. Board information intranet
1. Develop and implement a means for Board to Board communication (web pages? blogs? postings?)
b. Strategy for board recruitment/development
1. Identify and develop a plan and resources for Board recruitment that matches recruits to non-profits.
Advocacy & Community Education
a. Community economic impact study / Strategy for Community Impact
1. Create/assemble/adopt an economic impact study of area non-profits.
2. Determine and implement a strategy for dissemination and community education of the study.
b. County & City elected official relationship building
1. Develop and implement a strategy for creating dialogue with elected officials to include:
- Guest appearances at AEA meetings.
- Speaker appearances at AEA sponsored events.
- AEA representation/participation at significant community forums.
- Private meetings with elected officials as needed/indicated.
