POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Development Director for the Family Justice Center (FJC) will be accountable for the management and facilitation of the fundraising activities for the organization working hand in hand with the Executive Director and the Sustainability Team in collaboration with the Board of Directors. This includes full active charge of existing fund raising activities as well as development of new initiatives and programs to generate short and long term sustainable revenue streams. In addition the position will require strong grant writing skills and incorporate volunteer engagement in support of development goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Plans and implements a comprehensive development program including annual and planned giving programs, direct mail campaigns, strategic special events and capital campaigns as needed.

2. Conducts prospect research and maintains prospect files for individuals, corporations, foundations and groups who have the capacity and strategic alignment to support the FJC through charitable gifts and grants.

3. Along with the Executive Director and Strategic Planning Team, plans and coordinates Foundation and grant development activities directed to local, state, national and government foundations and agencies. Must have strong grant writing skills and solid track record of securing grants.

4. Establishes and administers donor recognition programs and develops potential naming and gift recognition opportunities for various interest areas and levels of giving.

5. Maintains an ongoing donor relations program. Plans and executes donor cultivation activities and events. Develops individual donor cultivation and solicitation plans, coordinates activities for the Executive Director and Board members for securing contributions. Manages donor tracking software program.

6. Will professionally represent the FJC in the community, participate in community events and actively seek ways to increase presence of the agency in the community.

7. With the Executive Director and the Board Public Awareness Committee, develops regular communications about agency goals, programs and services. Responsible for the FJC web site, Facebook and Twitter pages and regular newsletters. Generates an annual report for external communication.

8. Other assigned fund raising and community relations or volunteer activities.


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications or related field.
• 3-5 years experience in non-profit industry
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong editorial and proofreading skills and high level of attention to detail
• Ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders
• Ability to multi-task, respond to rapid change; organize, prioritize, and perform work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Ability to communicate effectively by telephone and in group meetings and discussions
• Is highly organized and has very effective time management skills.
• Is a demonstrated leader among employees
• Is able to administer confidential information
